Robert Parker Evaluates Wine

It is not just perception, it is for certain a reality. We women simply have much better taste buds than men do. We are far more capable of detecting the smallest of nuances associated with food and drink, wine included. On a whole, we don’t like bitter foods, and we are much less likely to say, Pass me the hot sauce. Our olfactory nerves are simply stronger than men’s are, and because of this, a woman is much more apt to wake up in a burning house well before her husband.

How Does Robert Parker Evaluate Wine

Now, this is not simply my opinion. These are hard, proven facts. Studies at both Harvard and Yale have expounded on this fact. There are people called super-tasters, regular tasters, and then of course, non-tasters. Women, more so than men, tend to be called super-tasters.

So, then, answer me this: Why is it that the majority of professional wine critics and tasters are men? It is definitely not because they are better at smelling or at tasting. It is simply because their memories are more defined. And it all has to do with menopause. I am serious.

Okay, so I had better explain…

Robert Parker is known as the guru of all wine connoisseurs. Simply by his words he can either make or break an entire winery. Apparently, his nose is first place amongst all noses, his taste buds are magic, are flawlessly analytical, as well as word being infallible and of a holy nature. As if God were speaking through him.

Phooey!

You may wonder why I would risk bringing shame upon my head from all those of Parker’s followers. Well, since I am a woman and I have better tastes, any time he thumbs his nose at a wine, the prices go down. Since I know that if he doesn’t like it that I will, that just means more wine for me!
